Markus Acar - a jack of all trades, master of some. He is a part-time student, a part-time entrepreneur, and a full-time tech enthusiast. Originally from Mardin, Turkey, but currently studying in Canada, Markus is on a mission to make the world a more sustainable place, one startup at a time. He's always up for a challenge and loves exploring the latest breakthroughs in science and technology. When he is not busy changing the world, Markus can be found discussing politics and networking with people from all walks of life.     Achieved recognition as a finalist from top 1% of 7,500 applicants for the Harvard University-Founded Aspire Leadership Program (ALP). Completed the comprehensive leadership and technology entrepreneurship program, advancing through all stages. Partnered with Harvard Business School professors to gain valuable insights and explore real-world case studies.

  3. Ground-Control Team Member @McMaster Rocketry Team

    November 2021 - Present, McMaster

    Contributed to the successful launch of McMaster Marauder-1 Rocket by monitoring, controlling, and remotely operating experiments in coordination with the ground control team. Designed and implemented a real-time data visualization tool using Pyplot in Python and JFreeChart in Java.

  4. Co-Founder & Project Management Coordinator @ Technosophia

    June 2020 - Present, Istanbul

    Co-founded Technosophia, a Euro-Asian society/hub for technology professionals and students with over 200 active members. Managed project coordination for workshops on products of Boston Dynamics, leading to a 25% increase in membership and 50% rise in workshop participation.

  1. Limits Visualizer App

    February 2022 - March 2022, McMaster

    Developed a Limits Visualizer App using Elm and Haskell to aid calculus students in improving computation skills by providing limits of discontinuities, limits at infinity calculations, and sample questions. Enhanced the usability of the app by 20% through the addition of helpful error messages and a redesign of the user interface.

  2. Graphene FET-based electron Detector

    January 2020 - May 2020, CERN

    Pioneered the design of a low-cost Graphene FET detector for Electron Beams on Particle Accelerators. The proposal ranked in the top 20 (4%) for its innovative design among 500 submissions in the CERN BL4S competition. Demonstrated expertise in advanced physics, electronics, and computer science, delivering a successful proposal with a clear focus on delivering real-world results.

  3. Smart City Project

    February 2018 - May 2018, Maltepe University

    Utilized C# programming principles to design and implement a smart city project that improved social and communication mobility, including the use of piezoelectric technology. Achieved recognition for innovative and impactful work, placing third among 150 projects at the 2nd National Science Project Competition.

TEDx

    Giving a TEDx talk was an experience that I will always cherish. Receiving the invitation to give a TEDx talk filled me with excitement and a sense of honor. I had watched countless TED talks before and admired the speakers who were able to captivate and inspire their audience. Now it was my turn to take the stage and share my ideas.
